Pedro Paulo Palazzo
FAU–UnB Associate Professor | Laboratory founder and head
Principal Investigator in the research project "Documentation of traditional houses in the Brazilian hinterland," funded by CNPq, and founder and head of the Vereda Laboratory at the University of Brasília (UnB)—part of the China-Brazil Joint Laboratory for the Digital Conservation of Heritage. Member of the scientific committee of ICOMOS Brazil (Documentation section) and a founding member of the Brazilian Institute of Traditional Architecture (IBAT, the Brazilian chapter of INTBAU—International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism). Holds a PhD (2010) and a Master’s degree (2006) in Architecture and Urbanism from UnB. Bachelor of Science in Architecture and East Asian Studies Certificate from the University of Maryland (2003). Formerly visiting scholar at the Centre for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (2019–2023) and a guest lecturer at Tongji University (Shanghai, China) and faculty at INTBAU Summer Schools on Traditional Architecture in Belgium (2021, 2022), Portugal (2018, 2022), and Brazil (2025). Currently Associate Professor and Head (2024–2026) of the Department of Theory and History of Architecture and Urbanism at UnB, where he works within the History, Heritage, and Aesthetics research line of the PPGFAU graduate program. He was an Assistant Professor at the School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2014–2016) and Coordinator of Museums and Cultural Heritage at the Federal District Department of Culture (2016). He coordinated cultural asset inventories for the Iphan Superintendence in the Federal District (2012–2017). He co-edited the books *Limiaridade: processos e práticas em arquitetura e urbanismo* (2021) and *Tempos e escalas da cidade e do urbanismo* (2014). He is a member of the editorial board of the *Journal of Urbanism* (Taylor & Francis) and a reviewer for several journals, including *Urbana* and *Pós* (USP), *Paranoá* (UnB), and the *Journal of Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism* (Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid).
Sylvia Ficher
FAU–UnB Professor emerita | Researcher | Senior federal research fellow
Architect with a specialist degree in Architectural and Urban Heritage (FAU/USP, 1972 and 1974); holds a Master of Science in Historic Preservation from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture and Planning (New York, 1978) and a PhD in Social History from FFLCH/USP (1989). Formerly visiting researcher at Columbia University (1981) and postdoctoral fellow in Sociology at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, 1982), she is Professor Emerita and Senior Researcher at the University of Brasília. At CNPq, she coordinates the research group "Brazil, Brasília: Chapters in the History of Architecture and Urbanism"; she has held a Level 1A Research Productivity Grant and currently holds a Senior Researcher Productivity Grant. She conducts theoretical and historical studies on urbanization and urbanism, aesthetics, architecture, and architectural criticism. To date, she has supervised 18 doctoral theses and 29 master's dissertations, as well as numerous postdoctoral projects. In addition to countless book chapters, articles in specialized journals, and papers presented at academic events, she is the author of Arquitetura moderna brasileira (with Marlene Milan Acayaba, 1982), GuiArquitetura Brasília (with Geraldo Nogueira Batista, 2000), and Guia de obras de Oscar Niemeyer: Brasília 50 anos (with Andrey Schlee, 2010). Her monograph Os arquitetos da Poli (EDUSP/FAPESP, 2005) received the Clio Award from the São Paulo Academy of History. Her extensive editorial activities include the translation and technical revision of approximately fifteen books in the fields of architecture and urbanism, as well as coordinating the "Architecture and Urbanism" collection for UnB Press and the "Brasília Histórica 50 Anos" collection for FAU/UnB. She has served on numerous scientific committees, such as the 6th International DOCOMOMO Conference (1999), the 4th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo (1999), the 24th Pan-American Congress of Architects (2013), and the 27th World Congress of Architects UIA RIO (2020), and was Honorary President of the 6th ANPARQ Meeting (2021). She acts as an *ad hoc* consultant for the country's leading funding agencies—such as CNPq, CAPES, FAPESP, FAPERJ, and FAPDF—and served on the Advisory Board of IPHAN (2023–2026). She has been a board member of the Columbia University Alumni Association of Brazil since its founding in 1998 and is a member of DOCOMOMO International and the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Architecture and Urbanism (ANPARQ). In 2022, she was awarded the distinction of Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia by the Presidency of the Italian Republic.
Andrey Rosenthal Schlee

Graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from the Federal University of Pelotas (1987), obtained his master's degree in Architecture from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1994), and a doctorate in Architecture and Urbanism from the University of São Paulo (1999). Currently Full Professor at the University of Brasília. Experience in the field of Architecture and Urbanism, with an emphasis on the History of Architecture and Urbanism, working primarily on the following topics: cultural heritage preservation, Brazilian architecture, architecture in Rio Grande do Sul, and architecture and urbanism in Brasília. He also dedicates himself to issues related to improving education in Architecture and Urbanism. Served on the ENADE Assessment Advisory Committee for Architecture and Urbanism; the Architecture and Urbanism Consultative Committee of the Network of National Accreditation Agencies (RANA) under the Mercosur Accreditation System; acted as a consultant for the Council of Rectors of Brazilian Universities regarding Architecture and Urbanism; was a member of the INEP-Confea Architecture Committee; and served as Director of the Brazilian Association for Architecture and Urbanism Education (ABEA). He was Director of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at UnB (2004–2011), Coordinator of the Architecture, Urbanism, and Design Area at CAPES (2011), a Level 2 Research Productivity Fellow, and Director of the Department of Material Heritage and Oversight at IPHAN (2011–2019 and 2023–2026).
Ana Elisabete de Almeida Medeiros

Architect and urban planner having graduated from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in 1995, she obtained a DEA (Villes et Sociétés) from the Institute of Urban Planning of Grenoble (IUG/UPMF) in 1997 and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Brasília (SOL/UnB) in 2002 with a CAPES scholarship—a program that included a stay at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley (CLAS/UC Berkeley) in 2001. Was CAPES postdoctoral fellow from 2003 to 2007 within the Graduate Program of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Brasília (PPG/FAU-UnB) and conducted postdoctoral research at the PACTE Laboratory (IUG/IGEA - UPMF) between 2008 and 2009. She also served as a consultant for UNESCO at its National Office in Brasília in 2009. She is currently an Associate Professor (Full-Time/Exclusive Dedication) at FAU/UnB, where she previously served as Head of the Department of Theory, History, and Criticism (THAU) from 2017 to 2019. She supervises undergraduate research (receiving commendations in 2014 and 2017), undergraduate final projects, master's dissertations, and doctoral theses. She coordinates the research project "Temporalities and Scales of the World Heritage City," part of the "Documentation, Modeling, and Preservation of Cultural Heritage" research group (UnB/CNPq), which is linked to LabEUrbe (PPG/FAU-UnB)—the Laboratory for Urban Studies—of which she was a founder and coordinator (2013–2015). She served on the jury for IPHAN’s Rodrigo Melo Franco de Andrade Award during its 27th, 28th, and 29th editions (2014, 2015, and 2016). Conducts research and publishes on cultural heritage preservation and its intersections with modern architecture and urbanism, design theory and pedagogy, documentation, local development and international integration, landscape, narratives and representations, public participation, public policy, and the relationship between preservation and mineral extraction. From August 2019 to February 2020, she was an Academic Visitor at the Latin American Centre (LAC) at the University of Oxford, with funding from the Federal District Research Support Foundation (FAPDF). She is one of the editors of the book Projeto, ensino e espaço universitário: o Instituto Central de Ciências (ICC - UnB) e outras arquiteturas (2023).
Eduardo Pierrotti Rossetti

Architect and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Brasília (FAU-UnB). Professor and researcher in the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism at FAU-UnB; and co-leader of the Architecture and Urbanism of the Brasília Region Research Group (led by Sylvia Ficher). His work focuses on architectural history and design, with research covering 20th-century architecture, Brasília, Oscar Niemeyer, architectural journals, and heritage. He is the author of numerous articles and the books Arquiteturas de Brasília (2012) and Palácio Itamaraty: a arquitetura da diplomacia (2017). Postdoctoral researcher and collaborator at PROPAR/UFRGS (2022–2023). Member of the Advisory Council of IPHAN (2026–2027).
Oscar Luís Ferreira

Architect and Urban Planner graduated from the University of Brasília (UnB, 1991); holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Graduate Program in Architecture (PROARQ) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, 1996) and a Doctorate in Architecture and Urbanism from the Graduate Program in Architecture and Urbanism (PPG/FAU) at the University of Brasília (UnB, 2011). Associate Professor in the Department of Technology at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, University of Brasília. Currently teaches the architectural design course "PROAU – Retrospective Techniques" (Department of Design, Expression, and Representation) and "Supervised Internship in Construction Works" (Department of Technology in Architecture and Urbanism). Research interests include: construction techniques and technology; cultural heritage preservation; cultural heritage and accessibility; and accessibility in the built environment. Professional experience in Architecture and Urbanism, with an emphasis on Architectural and Urban Technology, focusing primarily on: construction rationalization, building pathologies, and intervention and restoration of built heritage.
Danilo Matoso Macedo
House of Representatives Architect | Researcher
Holds a degree in Architecture and Urbanism (UFMG, 1997), a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism (UFMG, 2003), a specialization in Public Policy and Government Management (ENAP, 2004), and a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism (UnB, 2017) with the dissertation Brazilian Architecture Library 1571–1750. He is an Assistant Collaborating Researcher in the Graduate Program at FAU-UnB, where he focuses on the history of architectural books in Brazil. He has been an architect for the Chamber of Deputies since 2004, working on the preservation of the National Congress Palace and the building's technical documentation. He has run his own practice since 1996. He designed several built projects in Belo Horizonte and Brasília, including the Army Housing Foundation Headquarters (MGS, 2005) and the renovation of nine residential buildings for the Chamber of Deputies in Superquadra Norte 302, Brasília (Chamber of Deputies, 2004). He has authored numerous articles and books on architecture, notably Da matéria à invenção: as obras de Oscar Niemeyer em Minas Gerais, 1938-1955 (2008) and Destruição da arquitetura: crônicas políticas de um país em demolição (2022). He was a co-founder of the architecture and urbanism journal MDC, serving as its editor-in-chief (2006–2012). He participated in founding the Docomomo Brasília chapter in 2007—coordinating it until 2011—and currently serves as treasurer for the Docomomo Brazil Executive Committee (2024–2027). He was the Secretary for Organization and Union Training at the National Federation of Architects and Urbanists (FNA, 2020–2022 term). Representing the FNA, he participated in founding the Forum of Entities in Defense of Brazilian Cultural Heritage and coordinates the Solare project (Open Source Software for Architecture and Engineering).
